Chicago Dog Park #511
Chicago Dog Park # 511 is located at 630 N. Kingsbury and has the Chicago River in the background. It is a great view to watch the various boats meandering up and down the river. The facility has a loose gravel surface and does not have any water available for dogs to drink, many of the dog parks do have water for dogs. This dog park was quite deserted on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when I would have expected it to be busy. Located in River North with many residents in the area, I am sure it is busy at the beginning of the work day and after the work day is over.
Chicago Park District Dog Park – Churchill Park
Churchill Park is located in the heart of Bucktown and serves the Bucktown and Wicker Park residents with a great place to exercise their loyal companions and meet new friends and neighbors. This Dog Park seemed very clean and well cared for with plenty of seating for owners to just sit and observe their pups playing.
The Dog Park is nestled between the Bloomingdale Rail line to the South with some interesting murals painted on the wall, and the ball field of Churchill Park to the North.
Chicago Park District, River Park Dog Park
Chicago’s River Park Dog Park is located at 5100 N. Francisco within the very large park known as River Park. It is about the only Chicago Dog Park located in the far NW part of the city. This park is within Lincoln Square and also serves North Park and Albany Park.
It is one of the smaller city dog areas I have visited. Within River Park, it is located just south of the swimming pool. As you may guess by the name, this park is adjacent to the north branch of the Chicago River. I would call this a very mellow, pleasant and well maintained Dog Park. Surface is mostly asphalt and has the usual gravel potty areas. Small children and rambunctious dogs should not be confined together in a small area such as this park, kids are likely to get knocked over and hurt.
I visited on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and there were very few other dog visitors, made me wonder if this park is underutilized. We, my dog and I, really enjoyed our visit.
Lake Shore East Park
One of the newest dog parks in Chicago is located at Lake Shore East Park.
It serves the residents of the New East Side of Chicago and is one of the nicer dog parks I have visited. Picturesque and just a great place to hang, it is like an island in the middle of skyscrapers and has a pleasant relaxing feel, kinda nice to sit out in the open in a beautiful park and enjoy to greenery and landscaping. It rates a “4 Paw” signature by me. The dog park part of the park is relatively small, but then I have a big dog.

Hamlin Park
Chicago dog park Hamlin Park has a gravel surface and after a hard rain can be a bit muddy in some places. The park is L shaped with a long and narrow leg and a shorter and wider base, the long area designed for nice games of fetch with your best friend…
Chicago Belmont Harbor Dog Beach

A warm Sunday afternoon brings lots of dogs and dog owners to the Lake Michigan beach at Belmont Harbor. Much smaller than the area and beach at Wilson Ave which is usually referred to as the Montrose Street Beach.
The boats moored in the background are beautiful sight. Must be careful to not throw the tennis balls or other flotation toys too far as your dog could swim up to and get in the way of the boats. Also, parking at this facility is $10 on a Sunday while parking is free at Montrose Beach, but the city of Chicago is getting ready to change that and start charging for all the parking along the Lake front.

Wiggly Field

Wiggly Field is not where the Chicago Cubs win ball games; it is 1 of 15 Dog Parks provided by the City of Chicago Park District. Located at the corner of Sheffield and Schubert it is a convenient location for many Lincoln Park and Lakeview residents. Seems to be a high level of neighborly involvement and volunteering with keeping the Park clean and keeping water in the swimming pools. If your dog loves the water and likes to jump into kids pools this is a good option. The trains (red, purple & brown) going by are a bit noisy, but the dogs don’t care, they are too busy playing or chasing each other.
